Abu-Ghazaleh Patronizes the Meeting of AROQA’s School Ranking Committee
AMMAN - The Arab Organization for Quality Assurance in Education (AROQA) held the first meeting of its School Ranking Committee under the patronage of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, President of the Organization in the presence of the Committee members.
The Committee, consists of education experts and specialists along with representatives from the Ministry of Education and the Private School Owners Association, was formed in accordance with the instructions of the Minister of Education, HE Dr. Omar Al Razzaz. It is tasked with setting up a comprehensive scheme for the ranking of private schools, developing the ranking standards and designing a detailed practical framework supported by accurate and systematic indicators and tools.
"The formation of the accredited committee of experts to develop a comprehensive scheme for the ranking of private schools comes in response to the Minister of Education’s directives. The Minister works toward developing quality of education which will reflect positively on improving the educational outputs through the Committee of Experts chaired by HE Dr. Amin Mahmoud, the former minister of Higher Education who has an extensive experience in this field."
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh underlined the importance of ranking which he believes is the basis of development as each educational institution would be aware of its position among the other competing institutions or those operating in the same sector, and therefore would seek to further improve and develop its performance as per specific standards.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh also pointed out: "AROQA is an independent organization operating under the umbrella of the League of Arab States and this would make the ranking processes unbiased." He added: "We, at AROQA in particular and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization in general strive to serve our beloved country and its economy by educating a generation who is capable of keeping pace with various educational and technical developments. We are always willing to put our organizations' expertise at the service of education to improve its quality and outputs in accordance with His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein’s directives."
For his part, Dr. Mahmoud stressed the importance of the ranking process for improving the quality of education and its outputs, as well as boosting the level of competitiveness in the private education sector, as well as the periodic review and continuous evaluation of education efficiency according to comprehensive standards.
It’s worth mentioning that AROQA launched the School Academic Accreditation Standards in accordance with international standards and devoted its resources and expertise to help schools obtain  academic accreditation by offering the required training and guidance to academic and administrative staff to implement these standards.
