Under the patronage of the Lebanese Minister of Telecommunication, H.E. Mr. Boutros Harb, and the chairmanship of the founder of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization, the Chair of the Arab Organization for Quality Assurance in Education (AROQA), H.E. Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, the annual general assembly meeting of AROQA was held at the AUB in Lebanon.
The meeting was attended by representatives of AROQA's members from Jordan, Lebanon, Sudan, Egypt, and the Sultanate of Oman who discussed topics related to the developments in education, accreditation, and quality of education. They also addressed future strategic action plans contributing in the development of education in the Arab world, and focused on the quality of education and the application of AROQA's quality and academic accreditation standards.
During the meeting, a number of resolutions which would serve in achieving AROQA's objectives was issued, including the need for an action plan to raise awareness of the culture of quality and scientific research, the need for an introductory document to raise awareness of the quality in education, the need for supporting initiatives aiming at improving the quality of education, and the need for conducting more quality and accreditation related studies and research.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh instructed that AROQA should join the Arab Digital Universities Union of the Arab league, and urged dialogue and cooperation among educational institutions, accreditation bodies, and quality in education organizations in order to consolidate the concepts of quality and accreditation on the Arab regional level.
